The Many Rivers of Wellington Harbour
A joint presentation by Liz Mellish of Te Ātiawa, Taranaki, Ngāti Ruanui and Robin Skinner Senior Lecturer at the Wellington School of Architecture.
Talking on the Awa (rivers) of Wellington, their history and influence on the patterns of pre European and early European settlement and the development of the area which later became the Capital of New Zealand. They will also discuss the roles these rivers currently play, and will play in the ongoing and future development of Wellington.

The Works of Jim Allen – two tours
During the Wellington Heritage Festival we will hold two special tours of the works of Jim Allen contained at Futuna Chapel, led by Trust Chair Nick Bevin.
Trust Chair Nick Bevin will conduct a detailed and personal tour of Futuna Chapel telling the story of Futuna. An integral component of the tour will be the stories of the Chapel art works by Jim Allen. Some of these works are embedded in the exterior building fabric of the Chapel. Jim Allen passed away in 2023 in his 101st year.
The tour is offered free. Koha would be appreciated. No need to book.

During the Wellington Heritage Festival trustees will be on hand to welcome visitors, answer questions and help reveal the Chapel’s secrets and stories. Wheelchair access is available.
