Alexander Turnbull Library’s work on the John Scott Archive

In 2020 the whānau of John Scott deposited the collection of his architectural plans – over 10,000 items – to the Alexander Turnbull Library for long-term care and to allow researchers to access his work. Since then, the library’s conservation lab have been working on caring for the collection in preparation for digitisation.
The library’s paper conservator Louise Newdick wrote a story about the conservation work being done to stabilise the material in preparation for copying, handling, access and long-term storage.
